Welcome back to another episode of A 2 Geekz! I'm Julie, and today, we’re diving into Set Five: Shimmering Skies Lorcana cards, answering some frequently asked questions that have been popping up across the web. Let’s get started!
1. Doc, Bold Knight: Does Its Effect Work If Top-Decked?

Card Ability:
When you play this character, you may discard your hand to draw two cards.
FAQ:
Q: If you top-deck Doc, Bold Knight, will its effect still work?
A: Yes! If you play Doc while having no cards in hand, you can still draw two cards. Ideally, this is the best way to play this card to maximize its effect.
2. Magica De Spell, Cruel Sorceress: Interaction with "We Don't Talk About Bruno"

Card Ability:
During your opponent’s turn, if an effect would cause you to discard one or more cards, you don’t discard.
FAQ:
Q: If "We Don’t Talk About Bruno" is played while Magicka is on the field, how does it resolve?
A: We Don’t Talk About Bruno states that the chosen character is returned to the player's hand, and then that player discards a card at random. Since Magicka is chosen and removed from the field before the discard effect resolves, her ability no longer protects against discarding. This means the player will still have to discard a card.
3. Pete, Games Referee: Does It Affect Songs?

Card Ability:
When you play this character, opponents cannot play actions during their next turn.
FAQ:
Q: Does Pete, the Game Referee, prevent opponents from playing songs?
A: Yes! All songs are considered actions, but not all actions are songs. Since Pete blocks actions, this includes songs as well. The same rule applies to Robin Hood, Sharpshooter, which was also released in Set Five.
4. Arthur, King Victorious: Can He Target Himself?

Card Ability:
When you play this character, the chosen character gains Challenger +2, Resist +2, and can challenge-ready characters.
FAQ:
Q: Can Arthur, King Victorious, target himself?
A: Yes, you can choose Arthur as the target. However, unless you have shifted Arthur on top of a dry Arthur or dry Morph, it won’t be immediately useful.
For Arthur to challenge a ready character in the same turn, he would need an action card that grants him Rush. Otherwise, it would be better to target another character in your field.
